// A little something I’ve been keeping from you // A little something I’ve been keeping from you all for a few months... I certainly had some high highs and my share of low lows in 2020, but news of the impending arrival of a baby sure eclipsed every negative thing we lived last year. ❤️ Fun fact: the first time I felt the baby move, I was à vélo 🚲 riding through Paris. 🥰 It seems Baby is a fan of life on two wheels just like mom.

Our little Franco-American bébé arrives this Spring. 🌸🌸

// Coucou, c’est moi. Here’s a little shot fro // Coucou, c’est moi. Here’s a little shot from a morning out enjoying a croissant 🥐 this fall at the classic Café de Flore. I’m told I don’t re/introduce myself enough, so I’m going to try to be better about it. Here are a few random things about me…

▪️ My favorite area of Paris is the Marais. You’d be hard pressed to convince me that there is a better area than the 3rd/4th arrondissments. They’re so neighborhood-y and so perfect for a wandering bike ride. 🚲

▪️ Of course once you learn how to ride a bike you never forget, but I had a long dry spell of not riding and picked it up again only around 2010. 🚲

▪️ I’ve lived on 2 islands in my life, but sadly, neither was tropical. The first was Paris’s Île Saint Louis and the second was Tholen, the Netherlands. Maybe one day I’ll share how I ended up there.

▪️ I would be a dream of mine to have an animal sanctuary or at least to have full-time access to one. I have a deep love for all animals. 💕

▪️ Sometimes I wonder why I live in a city. I often think I would be perfectly happy on a patch of grass somewhere surrounded by fruit trees. 🍊🍒 #fallingoffbicycles #fob_julia
// No reason to stop biking just because it’s a // No reason to stop biking just because it’s a bit colder outside, especially if you’re in Rome. 🇮🇹🚲 I have seen this in Paris and Rome where people attach wine crates to their bikes to use as baskets... hey, whatever works! 🍷😂 I’m pretty sure in Amsterdam they opt for Heineken crates. 😉🍻 #fob_rome
// I know a lot of people dream of experiencing Ch // I know a lot of people dream of experiencing Christmas in Paris 🇫🇷🎄, so I’ve written up a blog post with some book suggestions for you to live vicariously through those who have done it. Would you believe that after all these years in France, I have never been in France for Christmas or New Years. I usually stick around to enjoy some decor and festivities then try to experience the same back in the States, too. I’m pretty sure Christmas in Paris could never live up to my Christmases at home 🇺🇸 with family. ❤️ #fallingoffbicycles #fob_bicycle💚🚲 #fob🚲_christmas Photo taken a year ago today. 💚
// Six years ago I spent three weeks alone in Rome // Six years ago I spent three weeks alone in Rome. I had never been there before so my first time seeing it was with Christmas decorations. I found it so classy and the typical adopted style was an understated one. A sprig of garland over a door frame, a red bow on a mailbox... nothing ostentatious or over the top. If you want to see a few of my photos from my magical reflective time alone there, click the link in my profile and join me as we wander Roman streets in December. 🎄🎄
// Anyone still not have their Christmas tree? 🌲 This Parisian florist has a few if you need one. I grew up decorating the tree the weekend after Thanksgiving but this year I was ready for some Christmas cheer before Halloween. 🙊 I only acted on it through music, though. 😄 Now I’m surrounded by no fewer than five Christmas trees, and to be honest I’m not sure it’s enough. 😆🤣 Anyone else love Christmas trees 🎄 as much as I do? 🙋🏼‍♀️ #fallingoffbicycles #fob_bicycle💚🚲 Also, little fact about this photo... I seem to be a magnet for the rue Montorgueil trash truck 🚛, so naturally when I was here to shoot this it was there taking its sweet time getting down the street. When you’re dining on a café terrace this is super unpleasant, but this particular day it was super helpful as it blocked all the traffic so I could step back and shoot the full façade for a few minutes. #fob🚲_christmas

My Paris Story

Connaître Julia

• I can’t live without music, specifically the Beatles and Classic Rock.

• I have always loved houses and decorating them. When I was little, I wanted to be an interior decorator when I grew up.

• If I didn’t do what I do, I would be studying people’s creative processes.

• I am an insatiable student of all things relating to the Law of Attraction and metaphysics.

• The two books that most changed my life are The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.

• I am an HSP with many HSP friends.

• I am passionate about animal rights and plant-based living.

• I have always enjoyed studying languages. I speak English and French fluently and have studied Dutch and Italian. Spanish is next.

• I have always loved hotels. My parents have been known to select our family vacation hotels based on whether or not I would approve!

• In France, my drink of choice is either Kir or champagne. Back home in the U.S., I usually opt for a G&T.
